    Welcome to Extension Services and Outreach

    Extensions Services & Community Outreach coordination unit was established in March 2020. This was an enhancement of the previous Community Liaisons Office. As part of achieving the university mandate the unit seeks to coordinate individual staff, departments and clubs activities to render Service to Humanity. This is by utilizing its wealth of knowledge, skills and other resources to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and the society in general. Our activities are designed to be relevant to the community and consistent with current knowledge and skills through learning and research to address community issues.

    OBJECTIVES

    1. To sensitize the University community on the importance of reaching out to communities.
    2. Conduct baseline surveys on community needs and available resources for evidence based interventions.
    3. To work with and facilitate the University community in identifying, developing and implementing community need- based projects.
    4. To link researchers with communities outside the University for Dissemination of research outputs that can help improve their quality of life.
    5. To mobilize resources to support implementation of the outreach programmes through writing of grant proposals.
      6. To establish and nurture collaborations with institutions/ organizations and /or individuals in propagating the implementation of outreach programmes.
    6. To assist the University community in identifying, planning, developing, implementing monitoring and evaluating community outreach projects.
